Vocation Meditation - Dec. 30
Feast of the Holy Family
When Herod died, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child's life are dead," Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel After being warned in a dream, he went away to the district of Galilee. There he made his home in a town called Nazareth...
The vocation of Joseph and Mary revolved around the person of Jesus, the Son of God who entered human history and was raised in a humble, simple Jewish family. Against all the odds around them, they both gave Jesus the comfort and security of a home, the love and adoration of His mysteries and a dignified living of daily life's ordinariness: work, family, devotions, culture and community. In the Holy Family, Jesus was devotedly nurtured in his vocation and mission.
This week I will be thankful for the gift of families. What can I do to help families cultivate and nurture vocations?
