Vocation Meditation - April 20
5th Sunday of Easter
Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life."
Jesus' revelation of his love for the apostles and the world took different forms. He said it by way of parables, by way of examples, and by way of explaining the deeper mysteries of His identity and relationship with His Father and with us. He described it as shepherding love, unconditional mercy, guiding presence, abiding word, Eucharist, the vine and the branches, servanthood, healing, friendship, compassion peace, charity, power of the Spirit, promise of eternal life, etc! And not having said enough, He reassured his disciples that His going back to the Father, His going to prepare dwelling places for them meant only one thing: in the Father and in Him, we all find a Home!
Vocation Challenge:
In God, in death: Home, Sweet Home!
Am I able to silence my fears and insecurities with the thought that in God, my souI finds a home?
