Vocation Meditation - Feb. 10
First Sunday of Lent
After being baptized, Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was famished. The tempted came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." But he answered, "It is written, 'One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God .'"
Vocation to Christian life is a vocation with a lifestyle not different from Christ's. Right after He was declared by the Father as 'His Beloved Son", Jesus entered into His 'wilderness experience'. His choices before the 3 temptations were clearly faithful to who He is as God and to His mission.
What constitutes my 'wilderness experience'? What gives me strength to be true to Him when I am tried and tested?
