Diocese of Hamilton

About Us

The Diocese of Hamilton was erected as a Diocese in 1856. The current Ordinary is Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI. The Diocese encompasses a large and diverse Catholic population. It is served by dedicated priests and lay pastoral ministers. The Permanent Diaconate has recently been instituted. A number of religious communities (sisters, brothers and priests) serve in various ministries within the Diocese. We are also blessed with a large number of Catholic educational institutions from the elementary school level to university level. The Diocese is committed to the encouragement of each baptized Catholic in living fully their vocation. It is also striving to create a culture of vocations which can continue to nurture the call to the priesthood and religious life.
