About Us

We are women who live out our baptismal promises in this faith community and whose lives are guided by the Gospel and the Rule of St. Benedict.

Our Purpose

Our intent is to live a viable monastic life and to be a Benedictine presence among the people on Vancouver Island. Each sister of the House of Bread offers a unique expression of that presence in her particular work.

Our Benedictine spirituality calls us live the paschal mystery, to open ourselves to growth and change. We need the support of community and the challenge, wisdom and humor of each other to deepen our faith and to grow in respect and love for self, others, our environment, and for the God who loves us with an everlasting love.
