Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ

About Us

Congregation of the Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ is an International, Pontifical and Apostolic religious Institute founded in Nigeria in 1937 by an Irish Holy Ghost missionary, Archbishop Charles Heerey, CSSp of blessed Memory.

We profess the three evangelical counsels of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. We live in community and serve the people in which ever community we live.

Mission

We are missionaries and today we serve the people in different countries of the world in education, health care, pastoral care, social service and prayer ministry

Charism

The Compassion of Christ for the under-priviledged and neglected women and children of Eastern Nigeria in the 1930’s was the gospel vision that compelled Archbishop Heerey to found our Institute. He entrusted this Charism to us under the mantle of the Compassionate and apostolic Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ. this vision had expanded to include all people who are in need

Spirituality

Mary’s deep Humility is our guiding principle in bringing the Compassion of Christ to all whom we minister to. We are a Eucharistic and Mariam community. Our apostolic life is nourished by our prayer life which is centered on personal deepening relationship with Christ in Eucharistic adoration, the Mass and Rosary.
