Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate

Mission

We, the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, a Ukrainian Catholic apostolic congregation, are called to be witnesses of Christ, living out His Gospel through sharing our lives with each other as a community, in prayer, love and service.

We are called to respond with openness in a spirit of trust, humility, simplicity, hospitality and joy in service of God’s people, primarily but not exclusively, those of the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Ministries

Striving to respond to contemporary needs, our apostolic vision is to bring Gospel values to our society.

We have served in all phases of the educational apostolate. Since 1905 we have conducted an elementary school, “Immaculate Heart of Mary School” in Winnipeg.

Our educational apostolic thrust now is at the Religious Education Centres. We prepare and assist lay catechists and conduct resource libraries. We have produced catechetical programs: “Journey of Faith” and “Children of Light”, slide presentations, etc.

We remain committed to our health care ministry at Mary Immaculate Health Centre, Mundare, AB, and in Manitoba: Holy Family Nursing Home, Winnipeg and St. Paul’s Nursing Home, Dauphin.

We conduct Liturgical Arts Centres, where we design and sew vestments for bishops, clergy and altar servers and provide other liturgical needs.

We enter wholeheartedly into the life of the parish.

We conduct Mount Mary Immaculate Retreat Centre, Ancaster, ON. Our yearly Marian pilgrimage is a time for reconciliation and healing. We animate retreats, lead devotions, etc.

In our Associate Program, laity share in our spirituality and mission.

We conduct Schools of Music , presently in Toronto and Windsor. Sisters compose music and conduct parish choirs. We produced an audio cassette/CD of popular religious hymns.

Sisters have produced a wide range of artistic works: icons, paintings, sculpture, etc. We contribute our culinary and homemaking skills as needed.

Every Sister Servant is given opportunities to discover and develop her talents to enrich our apostolate.
