Mission

We are religious, coming from many countries, living in international communities.
Called by the Spirit to cross frontiers of culture, language and belief, we are ready
to go anywhere to spread the Good News of God’s love for all people. In the Spirit of Francis of Assisi, the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary live in simplicity to the Gospel. Inspired by Mary’s uncondintional YES to God, we find our strength for mission in the contemplation of the Eucharist.

Explanation

Franciscan Missionaries of Mary choose to share in the life of the people to whom they are sent. From the time of their foundation this entails, at times, being sent to the most distant and even dangerous places of mission.

The communication of the Gospel Message is the fisrt aim of the FMM. They witness to the Gospel by their lives, no matter where they are or what they do.

When a foundation is made in a new country, apostolates are begun which answer the needs of the people or the local church.

The missionary orientation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary is marked by a commitment to justice, peace and the integrity of creation. Ecumenical collaboration and dialogue with all persons sincerely seeking truth and justice charcterize their way of mission throughout the world, as they strive to build the Reign of God.

Our choices of apostolate and the places where we have our insertions are, as far as possible, near those who do not know Christ, near the poor and those who are sociologically or morally abandoned, near society’s rejects, whose human rights or human dignity are ignored.

Our activites … are diverse. To the best of our abilities and the vocation of the sisters, our activities are a response to the calls and necessities of the Church and the needs of the changing world. We are to be ready to leave our country or to remain there.
